Role Based in York, we are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our dynamic research team and contribute to cutting-edge research on sustainability impact assessment in domestic production systems and agri-food trade in the UK. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team of people working on transforming food systems, you will play a crucial role in the Integrative Methods work package (CCT1 of The H3 Program funded by the UKRI), where you will collaborate with other work packages and cross-cutting themes to develop new metrics and assess multi-scale vulnerabilities of proposed interventions. Your expertise in Life Cycle Assessments and/ or other innovative integrated methods will be instrumental in evaluating the sustainability impact of various interventions and policy options on environmental, social, and economic dimensions. Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills, experience, and qualifications: • Educational Background: A Ph.D. in Management, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Agricultural Economics, Agri-food or a related field is required. Your doctoral research should have focused on some aspects of sustainability assessment. • Research Expertise: Proven experience in conducting research on two or more areas from sustainability impact assessment and a strong background in using any two or more integrated methods such as Participatory workshops, Delphi, Meta-analysis of secondary datasets, Multi-criteria decision analysis, Hybrid Spatial Life Cycle Assessment, Panel Data analysis, Scenario Building approaches, or Digital Twins. • Knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies including study design, intervention development, co-design and qualitative methods • Experience of carrying out both independent and collaborative research and writing up research work for publication with demonstrable experience of co-production of research and participant involvement • Demonstrated experience or ability to design multi-disciplinary research projects and write funding proposals • Publication Record: A track record of publishing research in high-ranking peer-reviewed journals (or ABS4*) is desirable. • Interdisciplinary Approach: Ability to collaborate with researchers from diverse disciplines and engage with stakeholders in the agricultural and food sectors to develop comprehensive sustainability impact assessments. • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analysing complex datasets, interpreting results, life cycle assessments, and providing valuable insights to inform decision-making processes. • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage research projects effectively, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outcomes. • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present research findings in a clear and accessible manner to both academic and non-academic audiences. • Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders. • Initiative & Independence: Demonstrated ability to work independently and show initiative in research planning and execution. • Commitment to Sustainability: A passion for contributing to sustainability research and promoting positive environmental and social impacts in the agri-food sector. This is a fixed term contract until 31 December 2025.
